Lisa Vanderpump’s (and Giggy’s!) Mansion in Beverly Hills

by HOOKEDONHOUSES on MARCH 23, 2011

“Real Housewives” star Lisa Vanderpump brought some humor and fun to Bravo-TV’s popular reality series earlier this year, which revolved around the endless cat-fights among a group of wealthy women in Beverly Hills. The women on the RHOBH had some seriously big houses, and Lisa’s was no exception.

Now that their children Max and Pandora are grown and their famous houseguest Cedrichas been kicked to the curb, Lisa says their 15,000 square-foot mansion is feeling a little too big for just her, husband Ken, and their and their 4-pound pup Giggy (pronounced Jiggy). So maybe, just maybe, they’ll sell it…assuming that the right buyer comes along, pushing a few wheelbarrows full of cash.

Vanderpump insists it isn’t really for sale, despite the fact that it popped up on a real estate website that belongs to RHOBH co-star Kyle’s hunky husband Mauricio. She says it’s “just a pocket listing” to see if there’s anyone would be interested in paying $29 million for her 7 bedroom, 10 bathroom estate.

I’m just happy to get a closer look at her house, which always looks so glam on TV. It’s the kind of place where you can wear high heels all day like Lisa does and feel right at home…

I’m not sure these photos do much for the house, especially considering its hefty price tag. Why is there an old towel thrown over the bench here? All I can figure is that maybe it’s a place where Giggy likes to sit:

Lisa and Ken are Brits who moved to California to open some posh restaurants there about 5 years ago, so you expect their kitchen to be nice. I’m surprised it’s not a little bigger, considering the size of the house and their passion for food:

I really can’t handle this black billiards room with the purple table:

The master suite alone, which is one of the areas of the house we saw the most of on the show, is 2,500 square feet. My family of four could live comfortably in that much space!

Everything in the master bedroom and bath is white and pale pink, including the cabinets:

Lisa’s closet is huge. She says all of her clothes are black, white, pink or blue:

Some of the scenes on the show have played out on this covered porch:

Giggy is known to hang out there, too:

How cute is he? He’s so popular now that he has his own fan site on Facebook (you can “like” himhere).

Did you watch the Beverly Hills Housewives? Whose house was your favorite? I’d love to get a closer look at Camille Grammer’s. Kyle Richards put hers on the market in December and you can see those photos on Zillow.

You can see all the photos of Lisa Vanderpump’s place on Mauricio Umansky’s real estate website, or watch this video tour of the house hosted by Lisa herself (with thanks to Ramon for the link!):

Spelling Manor: Most Expensive House in U.S. Finally Sells

by HOOKEDONHOUSES on JUNE 14, 2011

Candy Spelling–widow of TV titan Aaron Spelling and mother of Tori–has been trying to sell her famous 57,000 square-foot mansion in Los Angeles, known as “The Manor,” for years (I first wrote about it in early 2009 when the listing became public).

She refused to budge on her asking price of $150 million, which seemed a little crazy when house prices were falling all around her, but her persistence has apparently paid off. The 22-year old U.K. heiress Petra Ecclestone has reportedly decided to buy the Manor with its (in)famous gift-wrapping room and doll museum.

The whole place is just so freakin’ big, I can’t imagine living in it. Candy admitted in one interview that even she wasn’t sure how many bathrooms it has–23? Maybe 26? Something like that.

In this video tour, Candy admits that the house got so big because she didn’t understand the scale of blueprints and thought the original room sizes looked “too small” on paper. She says that Aaron put his foot down and nixed the plans for another huge wing that was going to be built on, or this place would’ve been even bigger.

I think what surprises me most about this is that I can’t imagine a young woman living in this mansion. It looks like an older person’s house to me. Can you picture 22-year old Petra…

…hanging out in this living room?

I can’t. I predict a lot of redecorating in this home’s future. She getting married in August and will be splitting her time between L.A. and London.

Here’s a shot of the famous doll room (taken from this video tour):

And Candy Spelling showing a reporter the breakfast room with the wallpaper and matching upholstery that makes me dizzy:

The house also comes with 3 kitchens, 2 swimming pools, a bowling alley, beauty salon, and parking for 100 cars. The garages should come in handy considering Petra’s dad is British billionaire and Formula One racing boss Bernie Ecclestone.

Candy and her daughter Tori had a falling out after Aaron’s death but have reportedly repaired their relationship. Did you know Tori has a new website with a section devoted to her love of decorating? It’s called EdiTORIal.

Tori is trying to sell some real estate of her own. The house she shares with hubby Dean McDermott and their kids in Encino is on the market.

It’s a much more modest abode than Candy’s, with an asking price of $3.1 million. You can see photos of Tori’s family-friendly home here.

For more information about the sale of the house, go to WSJ. To see my original post about this house with the video tour, click here.

Suzanne Somers’ Property in Palm Springs

by HOOKEDONHOUSES on SEPTEMBER 8, 2009

Suzanne Somers and her husband Alan Hamel have been trying to sell their Palm Springs compound for over a year. They were originally asking an eye-popping $35 million, but it’s now down to $12.9. It’s located in a secluded canyon above downtown Palm Springs on over 65 acres. Any takers?

exterior

There are 7 different suites and houses connected by rock terraces and natural gardens, so it’s a pretty unusual property. The grounds are stunning.

The master suite:

According to Luxist:

The pair bought the land back in 1977, gradually enhancing the 65 acres with guest houses, an amphitheater, an updated pool and a renovated and expanded main house. Somers filled the home with a decor as exuberant as she is, French country touches keep company with velvet sofas, giant chandeliers and more than one zebra skin rug.

If you watch Kathy Griffin’s Life on the D-List, then you probably recognize the house, where Suzanne Somers threw a party in Griffin’s honor (you can read about it on Suzanne’s bloghere).

Suzanne says the decor was inspired by the South of France. She spends a lot of time in the kitchen and is an accomplished cook, using organic fruits and vegetables from her own garden.

Here’s a clip of Suzanne Somers giving Kathy Griffin a tour of the property (they make you watch a short ad first). She tells about some of the amazing parties they’ve had here.

You can see the rest of the photos and get more information about the property at Les Baux De Palm Springs.
