Shakira House in Miami

Grammy Award Winning Shakira Isabel mebarak Ripoll was born on a wednesday, february 2, 1977, the youngest of 8 siblings, in the Clinica Asuncion de Barranquilla (Colombia). With her Lebanese father William Mebarak and Colombian mother Nidia Ripoll Torrado, Shakira honors her Latino and Arabic heritage in her music.

Shakira had considered Karime and Katiuska but finally chose Shakira, an arabic name derived from the word "Shukram which means "Grace" the most literal translation is "woman full of Grace" , even though Shakira has said she identifies more with its second meaning, "Grateful."

Did you know that Shakira knew the Alphabet by the age of 18 months, at 3 years old she knew how to read, and by the time she was 4 years old, she was ready for school.

"Technology scares me. We live in a surrounded battalion of sounds, engaged in ostentatious displays of new recording techniques. But, to me, the fundamental essence of a song lies in the melody and the lyrics."

In 2002 she ranked 9th in stuff magazine's as "102 Sexiest Women in the World", and in 2006 she ranked 20th in FHM magazine's as "100 Sexiest Women in the World 2006".

While hugely popular in the world, Shakira had not yet achieved a major record on the U.S. pop charts. She moved to Miami with her family to further her goal, and taught herself to write songs in English. She enlisted Emilio Estefan, of Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine fame, to act as her manager and producer.

Her first English language album, Laundry Service in 2001, provided Shakira with the success in the United States that she ever wanted to, the album was No. 3 on the charts, selling more than 200,000 copies in the first week. The songs "Whenever Wherever" and "Underneath Your Clothes" were both big hits.

Shakira's house in Miami sits on 6,500-square-foot that cost her for $3.38 million last 2001, the Mediterranean-style real estate has 5 bedrooms, 6 1/2 bathrooms, a pool and a dock.

The house is located in an exclusive area of Miami Beach and presents enchanting views of Biscayne Bay.

Miami Beach hosts numerous celebs, such as Lenny Kravitz, Ricky Martin, Sean “P Diddy” Combs, Rosie O’Donnell, Matt Damon, and Gloria Estefan.
