I was surprised to see these photos of the house actor Richard Gere lives in because there’s nothing “Hollywood” about it. It has a nice farmhouse vibe to it. I really love that huge wraparound porch and the cozy breakfast nook. After “burning your eyes” (as one commenter put it) with yesterday’s post, I thought I should give you something kind of calm and pleasant to look at:
The house is on the market in the Hamptons (New York) for $8.8 million (thanks to reader Billy Blau for this info!). To see more photos of Richard Gere’s house, go to Completely Coastal orTMZ. To see all of the other celebrity house posts I’ve featured, click here.

Reese Witherspoon has a new $6.9 million country house in Ojai, California. According to the MLS listing, it’s a Wallace Neff architectural masterpiece that includes an equestrian compound: “The perfect 6+ acre hideaway is nestled in fabulous Ojai Valley, a short drive to one of LA’s most sought after vacation spots. Fabulous new master suite. Incredible privacy.”
The home was formerly owned by actor/director Harold Ramis (“Ghostbusters”). Here are some of the photos from the real estate listing for it:
The home appeared in House Beautiful when it was owned by interior designerKathryn M. Ireland, and the photographs are beautiful. In the article, Ireland explained:
Originally, this house was designed by Wallace Neff in the ’20s to be a barn. Then another architect, Austen Pierpoint, made changes in the ’40s so it could be a home. This is classic Spanish architecture, but with a sense of bohemian fun, comfortable and loose.I love the way this house moves from the kitchen into the living room. And then these massive iron door handles everywhere. I love to lift them. It’s downright medieval.
Here’s how the rooms looked when Ireland lived in the house, and there was a lot more color in them:

3/26/11 UPDATE: The LA Times reports that Reese married agent Jim Toth in an outdoor wedding at her Ojai ranch today in front of about 100 guests.

Men don’t outgrow playing with toys. The toys just get bigger. And more expensive. Case in point the gifts given recently by Hollywood comedian Adam Sandler to his ‘Grown Ups’ co-stars.
The blockbuster comedy netted some $270 million, and in return, Sandler reportedly bought a $200,000 Maserati for each of member of his supporting cast: Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider and Kevin James. No word on exactly which model Sandler ordered, but considering that both the Quattroporte and GranTurismo models start around $120,000 each, he must have gone for all the options and then some.
Chris Rock woke up a few days ago and found a Italian super-car sitting in his driveway. “I went outside the other day and I had a new Maserati in the driveway”, Rock told Howard Stern on his Sirius radio show, joking, “Now I think that I’m Adam Sandler’s bitch!”
Remember this hilarious scene below? Of course you do.
